Exceptional Pastured Meats

Martha's Vineyard's Premier Poultry and Pig Farm

From Farm to Plate

The GOOD Farm raises animals with an eye towards their natural inclinations - pigs that root, chickens that scratch, turkeys that roam and ducks that splash. Our first focus is upon humane treatment of animals, an orientation which in turn offers the consumer unparalleled delicacies. All fowl is given access to growing pasture, all swine to root-able soil, roots and leaves. Our butchering program gets you the cuts you want and the flavors you desire.

Old Fashioned Butchery

Our new farmstand, The Larder, practices whole animal butchery, sausage making and charcuterie.

Available Meats

The Larder specializes in whole animal butchery, i.e. breaking carcasses into consumable cuts. As such, we can provide Island and regionally raised portions of animals that you won't find elsewhere. Need a de-boned pork shoulder, some chicken feet or duck wings? We can probably find you what you're looking for. We also stock island raised fresh meats, fresh sausages and precooked items to make tonight's dinner a breeze.

At the Larder we are part of the movement back to timeworn charcuterie practices - salting, smoking, sloooooow cooking in fat, making delicious, exceptional foods that are easy to cook and easier to eat. Confit, bacon, rillette, sausages, kabobs, stocks and soups, you name it, we probably have it lurking in our farm stand somewhere. All our production is done out of our certified kitchen at 342 State Road, Vineyard Haven.

Jefferson Munroe

Farmer/butcher

Jefferson owns and runs the GOOD Farm and co-owns the Larder with Daniele Barrick (owner of the Scottish Bakehouse). A farmer since 2010, Jefferson approaches farming from his palate with a focus on finding bio-mimicry systems that are delicious and sustainable. The Larder is a natural outgrowth of this passion as Jefferson can now ensure that the bacon is smoky, the duck delicious and the sausage lovely.

Kristen Henshaw

Scion/den mother

Kristen owns Kingsbury Fields, home base for the GOOD Farm. A favorite of felines everywhere, Kristy's Catnip has be cultivated on the Kingsbury acreage for decades and has kept many a kitty crazed. Kristy also keeps the delicious pear trees pruned, keeps an eye on the livestock and regales us with stories tall and taller. All summer Kristen keeps the bamboo at bay, makes sure that her catnip is harvested at the killer bud stage, and that her parents' graves under the mimosa tree are maintained.

 alexander  peterson

Farm Manager

Originally from New Mexico, Alex has ping ponged across the US from Hawaii to the Hudson Valley. Alex spent a season working at the GOOD Farm 3 years ago and is now entering his 5th year of farming. Alex has worked with livestock, vegetables and dairy. He loves birding, podcasts and the occasional bike ride. We're excited to have Alex back at the GOOD Farm for another season.
